IEC 61508 and EN ISO 13849 replace EN 954-1
New rules for the functional safety of plants and machinery outlined in IEC 61508 and EN ISO 13849
Manufacturers of machines and plants are now required to provide quantitative studies for safety devices. Existing machines must also be recertified, and proof of safety must be provided to the new functional safety standards. Corresponding values will be required for components.

The values and calculation procedures have been developed by BGIA (Institute for Occupational Safety). When the values for all the components are available, the safety assessment of the machine or plant can follow. At Pepperl+Fuchs, you already have easy access to the values of the majority of standard sensors. |
