Vision sensors are industrial vision systems that are customized for a special type of application. They have been set up for easy installation and operation without programming language. Vision sensors are significantly more efficient and flexible than light barriers, for example, and they are distinctly simpler in design due to the configuration for one special field of application, and thus less expensive than conventional industrial vision systems.
Typical tasks for vision sensors are, for example, checking for the presence of objects or patterns, position recognition for object orientation, or recognizing special shapes. Typical applications for Pepperl+Fuchs' vision sensors include fine positioning of goods in high-bay warehouses and detecting faults marks on sheet metals. Other applications include packaging machines and the graphics industry.
