Distance measurement is a fundamental sensing technology.
A wide variety of processes have been used to address different types of distance sensing applications. Pepperl+Fuchs now - in contrast to our competitors – offers a complete sensor family based entirely on the superior Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT). Customers will no longer have to rely on the phase correlation method or other similar chip-based processes. The advantages of such processes - moderate costs and acceptable levels of accuracy- have now been replaced by PRT.
The modern Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) delivers better parameters at a lower cost. Long range, accuracy, insensitivity to extraneous light, and attractive pricing combine to make an irresistible package. Concentrating on a single technology means Pepperl+Fuchs is the first supplier to offer the advantage of rapid and lower-cost developments. - VDM28 Distance Sensor
The new, small VDM28 distance sensor uses Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) to move it to the front of the market ahead of all comparable devices from a performance point of view. It is integrated into a compact housing from the standard series 28 sensor range. The universal VDM28 distance sensor can be used in a wide range of industries and applications.
- VDM54 Distance Sensor
The function of this special sensor is to measure the distance between two rail-mounted vehicles, primarily on overhead conveyors (EHB). Its large horizontal and vertical sensing range tracks the movement of the vehicles and returns reliable measurement results.
- VDM70 Distance Measurement Sensor
The measured values are transmitted via various integrated standard interfaces. Typical applications are simple measurement and positioning tasks.
- VDM100 Distance Measurement Sensor
The VDM100 distance measurement sensors are well-suited for larger distances up to 300 m. The repeat accuracy of all the devices in the range is
0.5 mm, with a resolution of 0.1 mm. SSI and fieldbuses are used as measured value interfaces. The sensors are used to position stock feeders to within a millimeter.
