Segment Checker: Updated with New Devices
FieldConnex® Segment Checker is an easy to use tool, which enables you to design and layout any fieldbus network based on IEC 61158-2. This can be done for both: safe and hazardous areas utilizing the explosion protection concept of your choice including the High-Power Trunk.
Segment Checker: design and layout fieldbus networks.
Segment Checker will allow you to:
- Create and configure a fieldbus topology based on devices you plan to use
- Evaluate and validate topologies and scenarios
- Check operational parameters such as supply voltage drop
- Display, archive and print your entire design
- Import Field devices from a library or create new ones with the device editor
Intuitive User Interface
Simply select:
- Foundation Fieldbus H1 or PROFIBUS PA, and
- the hazardous area: Safe, Zone 2/Div. 2 or Zone 1/Class I, Div. 1
The software will display the appropriate selection of power supplies and installation technology such as FieldBarrier or Segment Protector. Then, choose your devices from an extensive catalogue of field devices. Pick the accessories of your choice such as bus terminators and surge suppressors. To make life easy, the catalogue tree follows colour coding for easy referencing and definition of functionalities.
Open Device Catalog
Segment Checker features a comprehensive catalogue of FieldConnex® modules, from Power Supplies, Fieldbus Distributors such as Segment Protectors and FieldBarriers, Surge Protectors and Terminators through to Fieldbus Process Interfaces for integration of conventional signals. The FieldConnex® catalogue is complemented by a selection of Pepperl+Fuchs Level Control field devices with fieldbus capabilities. You can customize the software by adding your own devices to the library with only a few clicks.
Validating and Documenting Fieldbus Segments
Environmental conditions, such as ambient temperature, influence length of cables and number of field devices per segment. Segment Checker runs a series of calculations for topology, power distribution and short-circuit checks. On the display and in an error log, feedback is given and possible trouble spots are pointed out for simple correction on screen.
Device properties, such as tag name, input current and voltage, can be modified by means of a Property Editor. Similarly, cable types and lengths can be adapted to the specific application. The complete documentation can be exported in various data formats.
The result is a complete layout drawing of a fieldbus segment, fully validated for efficient operation of the physical layer. It is accompanied by a comprehensive project report and bill of material which presents a good basis for the detailed planning process.
