PROFIBUS works with Pepperl+Fuchs
“PROFIBUS – Meet the Experts” is a half-day event organized by the PROFIBUS User Group. Lectures from manufacturers and end users inform you about the newest technology and actual experiences with installations utilizing PROFIBUS technology. Interact with the experts and other interested users in fieldbus installation technology and exchange ideas for your next project or existing installation.
Latest product developments will be on display for you to experience. The PROFIBUS Power Hub/Segment Coupler SK3 links PROFIBUS PA segments into PROFIBUS DP. Main features are:
- Fully transparent connection between PA and DP: PA field devices seem to be connected to the DP network
- Redundancy of both, the gateway and the power supply
- The Advanced Diagnostic Module
This makes the SK3 easy to install and operate – it is practically configuration free. The SK3 brings power and communication to your High-Power Trunk with longest cable runs and highest number of field devices even in Ex-Zone 1. The energy-efficient design makes it the coolest and most reliable device available on the market today.
PROFIBUS Power Hub in action:
Reliable and efficient supply of power to multiple field devices and transparent coupling of PROFIBUS DP and PA saved time during commissioning even at the trade show.
Advanced Diagnostics brings transparency to the physical layer of PROFIBUS PA. A plug-in module for the Power Hub will examine your fieldbus communication and predict availability of data communication. During operation, alarms and events inform you about decaying or decreasing quality of fieldbus communication. Personnel can intervene before the situation becomes critical and while the plant is still fully operational.
Gain experience from other end-users and meet the experts of Pepperl+Fuchs over breakfast and coffee, and pick up a full version of Segment Checker at no cost. Segment Checker enables you to plan your fieldbus network with just a few clicks (read more). Register for the event of your choice here.
PROFIBUS at Trade Shows
This year’s multi-vendor demonstration was entitled: Saving cost with Diagnosis and Asset-management. This theme put the focus on fieldbus diagnostic tools and demonstrated configuration and supervision of field devices from the control room. FieldConnex® Fieldbus Installation Technology made it happen: Devices from all major vendors were commissioned in record time on a Sunday morning.
Ready to solve the puzzle of fieldbus installation.
Andreas Hennecke, Product Marketing Manager and Thomas Klatt, Business Development Manager engage in interesting conversations with customers.
The SK3 supplies power to the High-Power Trunk; field devices were hooked up via FieldBarriers with intrinsically safe connections. Though this installation clearly did not require Zone 1 protection methods, the actual “hazardous area” could be found nearby at the evening events when the interactive sessions of end-users and equipment manufacturers explored methods for measuring and lowering levels of the tanks supplying to the beer taps.
Supporting the Present – Defining the Future
Information you receive from Pepperl+Fuchs is always first hand. Pepperl+Fuchs employees involve themselves actively in the Advisory Board and committees: The working group Fieldbus Integration is currently defining the future integration of PROFIBUS PA into the up and coming PROFINET. The PA marketing committee seeks to educate new markets by promoting road shows and events in all areas of the world. Previously Pepperl+Fuchs lead the working group “HART on PROFIBUS” and “Remote IO for Process Automation” which developed into technology in use today.
We strive to stay at the fore front for innovative and long-lasting products and continuous development so that you can put fieldbus to work for you. Your feedback to us and the common experience that Pepperl+Fuchs people share with customers like yourself find their way back into the PROFIBUS User Group through our activities.
