 The SB-System: Reduced mounting and maintenance costs with plug-in Zener barriersZener barriers offer a cost saving IS-protection in process automation applications to limit the energy fed into intrinsically safe circuits.  SB (Safety Barrier) termination board with SB Zener barriers Single and multi-channel Zener barriers for DC and AC voltages facilitate the use of circuitry optimized to the respective application. Reduced wiring costsIn general, Zener barriers are connected to the equipotential bonding. Each barrier has its own connection for this purpose. The new SB-System provides single SB sockets and SB termination boards with six or ten sockets, which simply require a connection with the equipotential bonding – the equipotential bonding itself is connected automatically. The SB terminal bases and the SB termination boards offer the possibility of pre wiring. The Ex circuit remains isolated from the safe side until the Zener barriers are plugged in during commissioning. Easy for maintenanceDuring maintenance activities the SB-Zener barriers can be replaced without disturbing the cabling. By pulling out the individual barriers the respective instrumentation circuits are safely disconnected. The new safety barriers of the SB-System have replaceable back up fuses, which prevent the tripping of the built-in protective fuse – fitted to comply with standards – in the event of reverse polarity or an impermissible operating voltage.
