About the Online Summit

"Your Future Automation" was the motto of Pepperl+Fuchs' first online summit, which took place from July 20 to 24, 2020. This free, fully digital event gave you access to a range of topics that focus on digitalization and customer solutions. "Everything will revolve around user-centered digitalization. What better way to communicate this than with a digital event tailored to the interests of our customers?" commented Dr. Gunther Kegel, Chairman of the Executive Board of Pepperl+Fuchs AG. On each day of the summit, you were able to access keynotes, live shows, and panel discussions on a different topic from the field of automation technology via a browser-based online platform. Digital Kanban Management

July 20, 2020

It is hard to imagine manufacturing without Kanban systems and the advantages they offer. Nevertheless, error-prone, manual processes and low digitalization still leave plenty of room for improvement. Bosch Connected Industry (BCI), Pepperl+Fuchs, and Neoception have joined forces to develop a scalable system that prepares Kanban racks for Industry 4.0 and is equally suitable for greenfield projects and retrofits.

Using (rugged) smartphones, tablets, and the surrounding infrastructure in our private and professional spheres gives us the benefit of increased efficiency, information availability, and improved safety. In this panel discussion, Marco Kuhn, Roolf Wessels, and Jörg Hartleb from ecom instruments GmbH share knowledge and experience about mobile devices and services.

Smart Intralogistics Solutions with RFID and LiDAR Technology

July 22, 2020

Precisely coordinated materials and goods flows require more than just individual components: They need well-designed and innovative solutions that cover everything from custom sensor technology, infrastructure components, and cabling to system integration and software development. Along with several customers, Pepperl+Fuchs will showcase projects that demonstrate how RFID and LiDAR technology can be used to create these custom solutions.

Smart Intralogistics Solutions with RFID and LiDAR Technology

Insights from the RFID and LiDAR Technology Experts

Big data, Internet of Things, and cloud computing are only a few terms that intralogistics companies have to deal with. Dive into smart intralogistics and find out how Pepperl+Fuchs is driving digitalization forward with innovative sensor technology and customized solutions.

In the live lounge's first part, we introduce a customized 2-D LiDAR scanner that Pepperl+Fuchs developed for montratec's intralogistics shuttle system. In the second part, we present the collaboration between Pepperl+Fuchs and prefabricated home manufacturer Fingerhaus, where a turn-key RFID solution has been installed to optimize intralogistics processes.

In our panel discussion on smart intralogistics solutions, Michael Vees, Sales Director D-A-CH at montratec GmbH, Thorsten Schroeder, Branislav Pejanovic, and Dr. Konrad Kern discuss Pepperl+Fuchs' collaborations with the companies montratec (customized LiDAR sensor solution) and Fingerhaus (customized RFID solution).

Ethernet Advanced Physical Layer (Ethernet-APL)

July 23, 2020

With the new Ethernet advanced physical layer (Ethernet-APL), Pepperl+Fuchs and other companies are laying the foundation for future IoT applications in the process industry. The new physical layer enables field devices to be directly connected to higher-level systems, allowing consistent, transparent, and uniform communication across all hierarchical levels for the first time. In doing so, Ethernet-APL combines all the experience and requirements of the process industry: long cable runs, twisted-pair cables, interoperability, and use in hazardous areas up to Zone 0 / Class 1, Div. 1.

Ethernet Advanced Physical Layer

Insights from the Ethernet-APL Experts

This keynote speech covers the factors that led to the largest collaboration in the history of the process industry, which paves the way for seamless access to data from field instrumentation.

In this video, Andreas Hennecke, Product Marketing Manager at Pepperl+Fuchs, shares the background of Ethernet-APL and why it will define the future for companies in the process automation industry.

In our panel discussion on Ethernet-APL, our guests Lutz Liebers, Michael Kessler, Gerd Niedermayer (BASF), and Gunther Rogoll discuss the challenges and advantages of future communication via Ethernet-APL within the process automation.
