Cable glands protect equip-ment from environmental influences.

Even for well-trained users, installing equipment and selecting the right cable glands can be a challenge. With the addition of cable glands to our portfolio, our range of electrical explosion protection equipment now provides a comprehensive solution.
Cable glands are an essential part of explosion protection equipment. Not only do cable glands from Pepperl+Fuchs protect equipment from hazardous environments—they are also extremely rugged and reliable, with a wide temperature range and other features.

Rugged plastic cable glands

Plastic cable glands withstand the full impact energy of 7 J at -40 °C.
Plastic cable glands withstand the full impact energy of 7 J at -40 °C.

Type CG.PEDS and CG.PIDS plastic cable glands are used for unarmored cables in Zone 1/21, or Division 1, and Zone 2/22, or Division 2, explosion-hazardous areas. They are made of impact-proof plastic, and a dual inner seal gives them the widest clamping range available on the market. They are available in Ex e and Ex i protection types, the latter recognizable by their blue color. Withstanding the full impact energy of 7 J at -40 °C, they are extremely durable components. This saves costs and makes installation easier for both panel builders and users, because there is no need to mount additional mechanical protection at the terminal block.

Metal cable glands improve process reliability

Metal cable glands feature a high temperature range from -40 °C to +80 °C.

Armored, non-armored, shielded, or flexible—for each cable type, there are type CG.NA, CG.EM, CG.CO, and CG.AR metal cable glands in Ex d and Ex e protection types available. All of them have a wide temperature range of -40 °C to +80 °C. When combined with a silicone gasket, they can even withstand temperatures of up to -60 °C. In addition, they feature triple inner sealing, which opens up a broad range of applications.

Type CG.AR metal glands for armored cables with optional silicone sealing can handle a temperature range of -60 °C to +100 °C, and they can be installed with just a socket wrench. With the clamping rings fixed by O-rings on the inside to place the armoring, components will not fall apart or get lost when opening. This prevents installation errors that, at worst, can make explosion protection ineffective.

Since reliable data communication is the basis of smooth plant operation, type CG.EM glands for shielded cables feature an inner shielding ring that connects to the cable shield to provide electromagnetic compatibility protection. This prevents electronic devices from influencing each other while achieving a higher level of noise immunity.

Accessories for all purposes

The product portfolio is complemented by type SP.PE and SP.M plastic and metal stopping plugs, which seal holes, cable entries, adapters, and breather drains. Plastic stopping plugs are designed for Ex e or Ex tb enclosures, and metal plugs are suited to Ex d protection type.

Adapters convert between metric and NPT threads and compensate different sizes of thread types. By creating a pressure compensation between the enclosure and the surrounding atmosphere, breather drains reduce the formation of condensation while allowing condensed water to drain.

At a glance
