The VisuNet family of Pepperl+Fuchs covers the rigorous demands of process control – from a network monitor to a fully enclosed custom operator workstation

Today’s process automation projects are increasingly digitalized and influenced by information technology. Ruggedized human-machine interfaces (HMIs) like industrial PCs or thien-client-based remote monitors empower users in plants to interact remotely with a distant process control system.

As the emphasis on speedy information access from different locations keeps on growing, Pepperl+Fuchs now introduces significant updates to some of its human-machine interface product series.

VisuNet IND product family: industrial PCs of the 8200/900 series with comprehensive update

For swift handling of the latest software in process automation industry, Core 2 Duo processors of the 8200/900 series industrial PCs have been replaced with the new Intel i7-3517UE CPU, running at 1.7 GHz per core. This new processor is significantly faster than the Core 2 Duo but has the same low power consumption. Previously available single core Intel ATOM N270 CPUs have been replaced by the quicker dual core Intel ATOM E3862.

Aside from CPU performance increases, a 120 GB SSD hard drive enables very high data transfer rates. Customers can choose between 4 or 8 GB of RAM for their HMI, each of the DDR3L type. DDR3L provides fast access while offering a lower power consumption than common DDR3 memory chips. The 8200/900 series industrial PCs are equipped with Windows® 7 Ultimate in 32 or 64 bit version.

VisuNet IND product family: remote monitors of 8200/900 series optimized for new firmware RM Shell 4.0

The remote monitors of the 8200/900 RM series have also been upgraded to the Intel ATOM E3826 processor, and memory has been extended to 4 GB. With the addition of an extremely quick 32 GB CFAST memory card for mass storage, the system is now straightforward and optimized for the application of the new firmware version VisuNet RM Shell 4.0 (based on Microsoft Windows® Embedded Standard 7).

This software, developed by Pepperl+Fuchs, is a firmware for remote monitors that has many advantages in speed, functionality, and state-of-the-art look and feel.

VisuNet GMP product family: industrial PCs and remote monitors of 3700 series with speed increase

The same updates that apply to the VisuNet IND product family have also been implemented with the GMP 3700 series, which is especially suited for good manufacturing practice in life science industries. All of the features put into place for the IND series will hold true with the PC and RM options of the GMP series as well: updated CPUs, updated RAM, updated solid state hard drives, and transition to Microsoft® Windows 7 Ultimate. In addition, a high-end processor will be integrated for the GMP industrial PC platform. The new i7 PC option will be available along with the lower end ATOM processor as a low-cost option.
