Suitability for Use
The following external influences affect inductive sensors:
- Electromagnetic fields
- Cross-talk caused by electromagnetic fields
- Material-related influences that contribute to detection fluctuations
- Size of objects being detected
- Coil size
- Passing speed
- High and low temperatures
- Humidity (rainwater, splashing water, relative humidity)
- Pressure, heat, dirt, etc.
Accordingly, the installation and ambient conditions and any normative requirements must be taken into account for reliable operation of inductive sensors.
The installation conditions provide information about optimal installation of the inductive sensors in the application without being restricted in their specified function (i.e., their operating distance).
To meet normative requirements, such as explosion protection or E1 type approval, inductive sensors must have certain additional qualifications.
Particularities of ambient conditions must be considered so that sensors can meet the requirements placed on them. There are usually corresponding sensor versions to suit special ambient condition requirements.
