Ex e and Ex tb Switch Disconnectors and Safety Switches
The new product lines ensure safe disconnection of machines and power supplies for cleaning, maintenance, or repair.

For years, electrical switching devices for explosion-hazardous areas have been a focus for Pepperl+Fuchs. Now, the portfolio with electrical explosion protection has been updated with a completely new range of switch disconnectors (DIS*) and safety switches (SAF*) in types of protection Ex e and Ex tb. These product lines ensure safe disconnection of machines and power supplies for cleaning, maintenance or repair.

Safe connect and disconnect in Zones 1 and 21

The new switch disconnectors and safety switches handle 25 A or 40 A operating current and are suitable for operation in gas and dust explosion-hazardous areas of Zones 1, 2, 21, and 22. Due to a wide range of configuration options, they can be tailored to meet diverse switching requirements. For instance, all products of these ranges can be purchased with either 3, 4, or 6 pole main contacts as well as with various auxiliary contact configurations.

Degree of protection and temperature range for all purposes

The switches feature a glass fiber reinforced polyester or stainless steel enclosure with IP rating and a wide temperature range for use in almost any automation application. A threefold padlockable rotary actuator protects the devices from unauthorized access. Furthermore, the enclosure cover of SAF* models can only be opened when the switch is in ‘ON’ position, ensuring conformity with IEC 62626-1.

Complete switching and control solutions

“By extending our portfolio with Ex e disconnectors and safety switches, we further shape our profile as a one-stop-shop for electrical explosion protection equipment. Whether terminal and junction boxes, control units, control stations, or complex control and distribution panels: we offer one-stop shopping to our customers with a high-quality product portfolio —from individual components to enclosures that are cast at our own facilities,” comments Product Group Manager Rainer Nägle.
