Pepperl+Fuchs has now published the "Ultrasonic Double Material Detection Technology Guide" as a free downloadable PDF. The extensive compendium includes much of the content of the Pepperl+Fuchs "Technology Guide Ultrasonic Sensors," but with a particular focus on double material detection. Here, "double material detection" refers to the common detection process in which ultrasonic sensors measure the material-related attenuation between the emitter and the receiver.
In addition to the physical-technical basics of double material detection, the Technology Guide covers a number of typical applications, such as double sheet detection in the printing industry. Sensors are used to check whether one or more sheets are fed into a printer. The Technology Guide also contains detailed explanations of other applications, such as ultrasonic splice detection and label inspection, accompanied by easy-to-understand illustrations and diagrams.
The Technology Guide addresses the factors (environment, material, alignment accuracy) that influence measurement accuracy in double material detection. Plus, one section of the document discusses the criteria to consider when selecting the right sensor.
Product Manager Carsten Heim explains the aim of the publication: "Double material detection requires specialist knowledge. As the market leader in ultrasonic sensors, we also have more than 15 years' experience in the development and production of double material detection technology, and we are pleased to be able to share our extensive expertise with all interested parties in a high-quality reference guide."
