50 Years And Still Going Strong

Fifty years ago, when Walter Pepperl and his colleague, Wilfried Gehl from BASF, were commissioned with the task of finding an alternative to mechanical contact, they had no idea that they would set a milestone in the development of automation technology.

Factory Automation Division

Pepperl+Fuchs introduced the world’s first industrial proximity sensor in 1958, and ever since that time we’ve been providing the automation industry with the highest quality industrial sensors.

Pepperl+Fuchs’ sensors are crafted using state-of-the-art components and the latest technologies to ensure precision, reliability, and functionality. Our industrial sensors’ combination of durability, high accuracy, and quick response time make them an invaluable tool in industrial automation in the automotive industry, doors, gates and elevators manufacturing, machine and plant engineering, material handling, packaging, print, paper and finishing and process equipment industries.

Our inductive and capacitive sensors along with photoelectric and ultrasonic technologies are the backbone of our Factory Automation product line. Other products include rotary encoders, positioning systems, AS-Interface, RFID, and barcode systems.
