FB remote I/O field units for use in Zone 1 are equipped with a backplane for mounting remote I/O components (I/O modules, power supply, com unit/gateway), and are ideal for challenging applications in explosion-hazardous areas. The backplane is compatible with com units/gateways for all standard fieldbus types (PROFIBUS DP/DP-V1, MODBUS RTU, MODBUS TCP).
The enclosures ensure protection of all electronic components from harsh ambient conditions. GRP and electropolished stainless steel are available as enclosure materials. Solutions made from lightweight glass fiber reinforced polyester offer high corrosion resistance, while the surface resistance prevents electrostatic charges.
Enclosures made from electropolished 316L stainless steel offer high corrosion resistance, withstand impact, and tolerate a wide temperature range. Both enclosure types meet degree of protection IP66. An integrated return flange prevents water ingress at the one-piece seal.
The maximum FB field unit is made from 316L stainless steel and features slots for 24 double-width or 48 single-width I/O modules in an 800 x 1000 x 300 mm enclosure. It is suitable for use in a -20 °C … +40 °C temperature range (depending on power supply) and a rated voltage of 24 V DC/115 V AC/230 V AC.
