Privacy Policy: Pepperl+Fuchs WILSEN App

Information to Be Provided According to Article 13 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The Pepperl+Fuchs WILSEN app has been developed by Pepperl+Fuchs SE and made available on various platforms. The Pepperl+Fuchs WILSEN app provides you with the ability to read and change process data and parameter from WILSEN devices.

Below, we would like to inform you, in accordance with Article 13 GDPR, what kind of personal data will be processed in connection with the use of the WILSEN app, to what extent, and for what purposes.

[2] Installation of the WILSEN app

The WILSEN app is available from sales platforms operated by third parties, known as app stores. Your download may require prior registration with the relevant app store and the installation of the app store software. Pepperl+Fuchs has no effect on the collection, processing, and use of personal data related to your registration and the provision of downloads in the relevant app store and app store software. In this respect, the sole responsible authority is the operator of the respective app stores. Pepperl+Fuchs only processes the data that is required for downloading the WILSEN app onto your device. Please contact the relevant app store providers directly for more information if necessary.
 

[3] Access to functions/services

To guarantee correct and convenient operation of the WILSEN app, the WILSEN app must access various functions/services on your mobile device. Below, you will find information on which functions/services are accessed, what purpose this access serves, and what happens to any resulting data:

  • Access to the internet: The WILSEN app needs this function to download the latest matching firmware image from our web service during the firmware update procedure.
  • Access to the Bluetooth interface: This function is required in order to enable data exchange between the WILSEN device and the WILSEN app on your mobile end device.
     

[4] Collection and Processing of Personal Data, as well as the Type and Purpose

The WILSEN app transmits the following data to our product service, which in accordance with GDPR is classed as personal data:

IP Address: Each device connected to the Internet requires a unique address for transmitting data, called an IP address. In order to ensure the availability of our web service the IP addresses attached to anonymous data requests are stored in related logging and monitoring services for a short period of time. The IP addresses are neither stored nor processed for any other purpose.
 

[5] Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data for the purposes of our legitimate interests in accordance with point (f) of Article 6 (1) GDPR, to ensure the technical safety and availability of the WILSEN app and its functions.
 

[6] Recipients or Categories of Recipients

Your data will be used exclusively within the framework of the legal guidelines. In general, your data will be processed by Pepperl+Fuchs employees who require this information to fulfill legal obligations. The WILSEN app uses the services of Microsoft Azure and the data needs to be made available to this external service provider; this is done solely for the purpose of using personal data on our behalf and on the basis of a corresponding contract ("Processor" as defined by Article 28 GDPR).
 

[7] Duration of Storage and Criteria for Defining this Duration

The logging and monitoring data containing the IP address will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the specified processing purposes. This applies in particular if our web service is updated.
 

[8] Rights of the Data Subject

In accordance with the general provisions stipulated in Article 12 GDPR, you have right of access in accordance with Article 15 GDPR, the right to rectification in accordance with Article 16 GDPR, the right to erasure in accordance with Article 17 GDPR, the right to restriction of processing in accordance with Article 18 GDPR, as well as the right to data portability in accordance with Article 20 GDPR. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in accordance with Article 77 GDPR.
 

[9] Right to Object

Providing that your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests in accordance with point (f) of Article 6 (1) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data in accordance with Article 21 GDPR, providing that there are grounds to do so based on your particular situation.
