Reliable Detection of Small Parts on Vibrating Conveyors
The Application
Feeding small parts into operating systems requires various objects to be detected efficiently in confined ambient conditions. Vibrating conveyors, for example, transport a large number of different parts that vary greatly in their surface structure and reflectivity. Reliable sensor technology is crucial in this application to ensure a smooth process.
The Goal
The goal of using a diffuse mode sensor is to enable reliable object detection over a wide detection range. The sensor should be able to precisely detect different materials and surface structures, while providing easy adjustment of the switching point for different distances and objects.

The Solution
The ML100-8-HW is usually mounted above the vibrating conveyor or the feed rail. Looking downward from this position, it works with no additional reflector and uses the background as a reference object. With a detection range of 5 to 350 mm, the sensor detects deep black, small, and flat plastic parts especially well. Thanks to its compact housing design, it is ideal for installation in areas where space is limited.
The Benefits
The diffuse mode sensor saves space and is quick to mount. Its self-monitoring properties ensure precise object detection of the smallest objects, reflective objects, and deep black materials, making it an ideal solution for vibrating conveyors.
