Warehouse Management with Photoelectric Sensors

Reliable Product Tracking Using ML17 Photoelectric Sensor

The Application

At 100,000+ square feet, warehouse fulfillment centers are like small cities. Miles of conveyor belts transport inventory for storage and shipment, while intelligent management systems direct the flow of materials. Without reliable inventory tracking, goods cannot be shipped in a timely manner.

The Goal

To ensure that warehouse processes operate efficiently and effectively, goods must be tracked at all times. Reliable sensing technology is essential to accomplishing this.

The Solution

ML17 photoelectric sensor
ML17 photoelectric sensor

Installed a few feet apart on every conveyor belt, the compact ML17 photoelectric sensors from Pepperl+Fuchs reliably track product movement throughout the entire warehouse. The ML17 comes with an 18-mm threaded snout and thru-holes for surface mounting. At 29.3 mm, the ML17 has a smaller depth than most 18-mm cylindrical sensors. This makes it perfect for low-space applications. Four different sensing modes, including retroreflective and background suppression versions, provide added flexibility, and a 4-in-1 output simplifies installation since it can be NPN or PNP.

Technical Features:

  • Compact housing
  • 360° high-visibility LEDs
  • 4-in-1 output (push-pull)
  • IP67 Protection rating
  • Cable, M8 or M12 quick disconnect options

The Benefits

With an exceptional price-performance ratio, the ML17 photoelectric sensor is perfect for markets and industries that require a dependable, low-cost sensor. Since it has a 4-in-1 output, there is no need to stock individual PNP or NPN versions. And, the ML17 is perfect for applications where space is at a premium.
