The objective

Our seminars are defined according to the 2 European directives on explosion protection, 2014/34/EU and 1999/92/EC, electrical protection against explosions, which are applicable throughout Europe and are covered by national legislation.

The objective of this seminar:

  • Introduction to Electrical Explosion Protection.
  • Description of the legal and technical context in Europe.
  • Explanation of relevant standards and legislation (property requirements, installation, testing and maintenance).
  • Explanation of details defined by national legislation relating to employers and operators.

The group concerned

  • Employers, managers and operators of facilities in hazardous areas.
  • Safety engineers and those responsible for developing the explosion protection document.
  • Employees in the areas of planning, assembly, operation, service and maintenance, distribution and purchasing of electrical equipment, machines and installations.

The content

To make your planning easier, we have divided our training into 5 modules lasting 90 to 120 minutes. The modules are spread over 5 days. The session of the day is given both in the morning and in the afternoon, allowing you to choose the time that suits you best. Participation is without cost.

We have scheduled our spring time ATEX seminar from March 24 to March 27, 2025.

Exceptionally, there will be no 5th training day on Friday March 28. However, the topics of that day, “Installation and Maintenance” (Qualifications required for personnel, particularities of hazardous areas, cables and pipes, spark protection, choice of equipment, electrical machines, installation, replacement and repair of equipment...), will be covered during the other four modules this time.

Examples of explosion accidents, causes of explosions, legal guidelines for manufacturers and operators, required qualifications for personnel.

Fundamentals of Physics.

Explosion conditions, formation and ignition of potentially explosive atmospheres, dust characteristics, ignition sources, explosion limits, ignition temperatures, explosion groups.

Types of electrical protection.

Basic principles and peculiarities of different types of electrical protection, principle of operation of Ex d protection type, Ex i protection type, Ex e protection type and other types of protection, equipment protection level (EPL), marking technique, typical errors in the selection and installation of equipment.

Intrinsically safe.

Principle of operation of intrinsic safety, intrinsic safety and related equipment, requirements for cables and pipes, marking, peculiarities during installation, verification of intrinsic safety.
