With a population of one billion people, Africa is a continent that offers huge growth potential. For this reason, Pepperl+Fuchs is increasing its presence and founded the new subsidiary in Johannesburg on March 1, 2014. The sales territory, besides South Africa, includes most other sub-Saharan countries.

Africa - a continent with enormous growth potential

Seven of the ten countries in the world with the highest growth rate are located in Africa. Due to the increased global demand for natural resources and the adjacent investments, Pepperl+Fuchs is seeing increasing demand for their products, explains Marc Van Pelt, Sales Director Africa. This is particularly noticeable in process automation, as well as in industrial sensors for factory automation in South Africa. Very positive developments are already occurring in many African countries. The new Pepperl+Fuchs office in Johannesburg forms the foundation for a long-term strategy in Africa – a giant that is just waking up.

Closer to the customer - better service

The new office in Johannesburg will take on all the business activities of the previous sales partner P&F Products cc based in Edenvale. All employees are being transfered to the new subsidiary, along with the building and warehouse. Mark Bracco, former managing member at P&F Products cc has been appointed as Managing Director of this newest Pepperl+Fuchs office. The new subsidiary is responsible for customers in South Africa as well as sub-Saharan Africa. It will work close together with the already established distributors in Kenya and Nigeria as well as in the neighbouring countries of South Africa. The French speaking countries in North and West Africa will continue to be supported by the Pepperl+Fuchs branch in France. About the future strategy of the new subsidiary, Marc Van Pelt concludes: “We will forge closer links within our network in Africa so that we can be closer to our customers and provide them with an even better service.
